To which vulnerabilities am I open to if I decide to host my website myself

I am thinking of hosting my own website for some "work", and as a quite tech-savvy person with plenty of bot computer experience and equipment but an otherwise rather tight budget I was considering hosting the website myself rather than paying for that service elsewhere.
What I was thinking of is, how will my website be less secure compared to a hosted one. The examples I can think of is Denial of Service or high traffic in general, but I'm also worried about how connected I (as a person) will be with the website. Would it, for example, be possible trough IP wizardry be possible for people to find out who I am. There might be hundreds of reasons why hosting by myself insecure.
