Would using a Mac be a limitation in inforsec?

So I am an infosec student at a university in England. And I need to get a laptop before next semester starts. I am struggling to decide between a MacBook or a Windows Laptop. I am not an Apple fanboy by any stretch of the imagination, I just prefer using a *Nix system as I have used Linux since 2015. However using a linux Distro as my main OS wasn’t really viable, as we had to use software that was not available for it (Also I’m getting a bit fed up with the jank).

In short I want to know how viable modern Apple laptops are for infosec? I have heard that the T2 chips has caused some significant issues (I have not used a Mac with it before). I would need to get a laptop in the next couple of weeks, so Arm is not a consideration.

Thanks in advance, I know these “what laptop should I get” posts can be annoying, but I am really stuck and not sure who to ask.

TLDR: Would a Mac limit me at all in terms of infosec? What do you use?

BTW. The main Windows contender is the XPS 13, and the MacBook would be the 2019 MacBook Pro 13” (with lower specs to save money)
